Playing with paper...
As long as I can remember I have always been a arts and crafts kinda of girl. Ranging from coloring to sewing i've dabbled in it. Today I want to talk about paper crafting.
Most crafts are very therapeutic for me and paper crafting is vey time consuming and keeps my mind occupied in moments of sadness. We recently lost a family pet and the days following I had to occupy my mind and my hands. And I made some paper flowers and other things.
The first picture is actually a secret box I made about 15 years ago. When trying to fit in at a new school(starting high school) was very hard for me. And for the most part I kept to myself and my creative outlets. Eventually I cracked my shell started to make friends and kept this box with a few momentos from high school in it. I found this link.... http://anextraordinaryday.net/how-to-make-a-faux-love-letters-box/ with similar instructions to what I did to create this box 15 years ago. I just made my hole in the middle a little bigger.
--------------------------------------------
I started out this week with this making this faceted paper planter and paper succulent.
Because I didn't have a printer I used graph paper to sketch out the box and succulent petals. And instead of using markers or colored pencils for the triangle sections I actually used washi tape, which also benefited the strength of the sturcture and I hot glued everything together. The succulent I colored with colored pencils before cutting out the shape just so there was no risk in ripping any of the small pieces, this was also hot glued together. I also cut shreds of paper for the succulent to sit on in the planter.
--------------------------------------------
Then I started on the giant rose and dahlia. These were the most time consuming because of all the pieces I had to cut out, but they came out so well. Especially for trying it for the first time. I would love to do a poster board size art piece with a bunch of these flowers and also in corporate other style flowers too.
--------------------------------------------
And finally this little cutie was my favorite
I would of liked a different style of planter to put it in but it came out ok. I may make a new one later on. I just love the flower on the top. Also I covered the rim of the pot with some washi tape. I think next time I would probably get some green print scrap book paper to make the body of the cactus with. It would give it some great texture to it.
All the instructions to these projects can be found on these pins 📌 http://pin.it/OyfUhCp 📌 I created a Pinterest board with all the links I used and referenced.
